Renato Cipullo assumed the leadership role from his father, Giusseppe, who advanced unique methods in jewelry manufacturing that revolutionized the Italian jewelry industry in the 1950s. Renato’s work also invokes the rich legacy of his famous designer brother, the late Aldo Cipullo, creator of the iconic Cartier Love Bracelet. Renato continues to steward his jewelry brand today in keeping with the family’s traditions and uncompromising design principles.
These incredible and unique Estate cufflinks are a wonderful example of Renato Cipullo's work! Each 18kt yellow gold piece adorns a genuine Netrite Zebra snail shell that features a fine black and white striped pattern along the entire twisted, cone-shaped surface. Embellishing the tip of the shells is a gorgeous bezel set rich blue sapphire, with facets that catch the light beautifully with every turn. The opening of the shell rests on a smoothly polished gold base, which is attached to an airline backing that is capped with a hinged ribbed bar. Various stamps on the backing include an "18K" gold purity mark and "© R. CIPULLO," which is also found on the back of each cufflink. A fabulous pair of cufflinks by an exceptional designer, they would make an excellent set for any man or woman!
Measurements: Each cufflink face measures approximately 3/4" tall, and about 1/2" wide and thick. The post of each airline backing measures about 5/8" long.
Condition: The overall condition of the cufflinks is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the snail shells. The sapphires are intact and securely set. The hinged airplane backs are secure and in good working condition.
